About Library 2.0-- "information overload" comes to mind. I didn't understand parts of it,some parts made sense, & some parts were depressing but it's all food for thought. It's true that libraries no longer have a monopoly on information. If everybody is going to be adding info to sites, I do hope there is oversight. And letting patrons mix & mashup & so forth on library equipment could make for interesting maintenance needs. As the woman writer mentioned, "tour guides" will probably be needed to wade through all the available material. Not being able to keep up with changes or "train" patrons on using sites sounds inevitable if change will be constant. Techies will be in seventh heaven & in huge demand. Nearly anything sounds possible for the people with insight & skills to apply the technology.

The Delicious tags looks useful. When thinking about the NEaccess sites, it was hard to narrow it to one word for description. That probably accounts for the "run-on" words I saw on some lists.Maybe NEhistory could be a new word.The keyword & cross-referencing aspects are good. We work on "communal" computers so it would be convenient to access the same lists from each computer. That would work well for research & common interest groups,too, I would think. The Holdrege page looks impressive.

A Twitter account has been opened. I've read the material & looked at a few individual postings(?). It does sound like some libraries have found good uses for the short,quick notices. Personally, I don't have a computer & wouldn't use Twitter. I thought reading some of them is like hearing one side of a phone conversation & trying to guess what else was being said. If I did Twitter my personal happenings, that could be used as a sleep aid. I agree with the person who doesn't understand the need to share info w/ strangers. It's hard enough to try & stay in contact w/ flesh & blood friends.

Thing 12 - LibraryThing seemed easy to use as far as cataloguing,provided you know your editions.From what other comments have been, it does seem like there would be some uses for it in the library setting.

These "Things" are good to learn about --at least to be aware of -- but technology is not my thing,either, & I find it overwhelming. It also takes a lot of time to struggle through so this project is one of those "character building" aspects of life. Not fun but educational.
